Australian Embassy and Consulates

There are six Consulates and the Embassy in the United States.  Each Consulate has a Consul General respsonsible for consular activities.  There is usually one or more consular staff providing assistance to Australian citizens for passport and visa related activities.  Consul Generals in smaller consulates are normally Trade Commissioners as well.  Each US Consulate has a Trade Commissioner working for the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).  Anywhere from one to a dozen Austrade staff will work within each Consulate.  There are also numerous Honorary Consuls in cities without a physical consulate.  Honorary Consuls will conduct passport interviews and provide other assistance to Australian citizens.
